Governor Pramono Inaugurates Kampung Kalibata Park

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the Kampung Kalibata Green Open Space at Citra Betawi RPTRA, Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Friday (10/24). This aims to improve an adaptive public space in Jakarta that combines ecological, social, and educational functions.

I inaugurated one of the green open spaces

This green open space is part of the Jakarta government's efforts to improve the development of open spaces in feasible locations, including in catchment areas or water reservoirs.

"Today, I inaugurated one of the green open spaces, which I have requested and encouraged to be implemented wherever possible," he expressed.

City Government is Committed to Increasing Green Open Space

The park has an area of approximately 5,328 square meters and is located next to the previously existing RPTRA with an area of 1,500 square meters.

Pramono has also instructed the Head of the Parks and City Forest Agency to integrate the green open space with the existing RPTRAs. This is expected to provide greater benefits for the community as a space for exercise and interaction.

"I requested that the old park be combined with a new park approximately 5,000 square meters in size. Once done, the total area will be 6,500," he explained.

This Kampung Kalibata Green Open Space is designed as a multifunctional green space. Through redesign, the park, which previously often experienced flooding, has been transformed into an active park that still maintains its hydrological function as a temporary water reservoir, while also becoming a productive and inclusive public space for the surrounding residents.

He also expressed his desire to green areas that have been underutilized, such as under bridges and toll roads. These places will also be used as public spaces.

As for the construction costs can be financed through creative schemes, such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds or collaboration with companies in Jakarta. By so, the development is not only concentrated on main streets in Jakarta but also in other areas.

"If possible, using CSR funds or collaborations and so on, I encourage almost all areas in Jakarta to implement what is called creative financing," he stated.
